La Hita

On the far left, at the end of the boardwalk is a protected area called La Hita. This area is located on the banks of the Mar Menor between Los Alcázares and San Javier. It is a submerged area, mainly consisting of reeds (Phragmites australis). Between the reeds there is a walking path where you can take a nice walk, enjoy the sound of the birds or the view in the many viewpoints that are located between the large reeds.

In this area you can spot breeding birds such as the black-winged stilt, the ternula, the little reed warbler or the blue heron. The breeding birds are protected by the so-called open spaces and the islands of the Mar Menor.
